Mariela Fuenmayor, MD
Psychiatry and Psychotherapy
Dr. Fuenmayor is originally from Venezuela. She attended the Universidad Nacional Experimental Francisco de Miranda, where she graduated as a Surgeon Physician. She trained at the Pharmacology and Clinical Research Program of "Unidad de hipertension arterial at the "Hospital Clinico Universitario" in Caracas. Later, she trained as a psychiatrist at the "Hospital Psiquiatrico Dr. Jesus Mata De Gregorio." She worked in her private practice, and as Associate Professor of Neuroanatomy and Neuropsychiatry at the Central University in Venezuela.
Dr. Fuenmayor was accredited M.D. in the U.S. by the ECFMG in 2003. She trained at the Austin Medical Education Program, Department of Psychiatry. During her training, Dr. Fuenmayor was President of the Residents Association and Chief Resident of the Psychiatric Program. She received the “Van Dao Award” by the AMEP Department of Psychiatry, and in 2007, she was designated “Outstanding resident of the year" by University of Texas Medical Branch in Austin.
She opened her private practice at CRISCAR P.A. in 2007. She was also the Medical Director of the Adult Intensive Outpatient Program of the Seton Mind Institute until 2013. Dr. Fuenmayor is dedicated full time to the private practice. She is enhancing the impact to the community through a new project.
